We offer services to candidates to help you in your job search efforts. We want you to get the best job possible, one that fits your skills and ambitions, at a great company. Our services will help you hone your resume and cover letters, improve your phone and in-person interview skills, and strengthen other aspects of your professional presentation that will increase your chances of landing your desired job.
We are qualified to do this because we have hired hundreds of people in our business functions to work for us, our teams or others in our companies. That is, we have real-world experience born of decades of functional, management and executive experience, as well as being investors, board members and advisors, at real companies making real products.
We will help you build your resume and cover letter, making them look great and read clearly and concisely. We will train you how to interview and best prepare and present yourself. Our services will help you be more prepared, comfortable and confident in job interviews. However, our services do not guarantee you a job or preferable treatment with our clients. When our clients hire us to find candidates, we do so in a completely unbiased fashion. We do not and will not compromise our duty to our clients by recommending one candidate over another from any basis other than their fitness for a particular position.
We have read thousands and thousands of resumes as hiring managers and executives over decades of experience. We have tossed aside poorly written or off-target resumes in thirty seconds or less. Yup, that is what you get. Thirty seconds or less for the first look. This experience makes us just the right people to help you optimize your “paper presentation.” We are used to being the tough audience so we prep you for that audience. And we do it better than any of the folks who have not been executives in the business world. We will actually interview you and run you through each job you have had, collecting the most quantifiable, marketable bits to help you tell and sell your story.
We will be the first to tell you that cover letters are not always necessary. But they do have their place and time. We will help you figure out when and where that is and will make certain that you are well written, represented and received.
Interviewing is an art. It is also where most hiring decisions are made (assuming you get that far). There is not one “right” interview style. Every hiring manager and interview team member is different and will respond differently. We will not claim to have seen them all, but we have seen and worked with a lot of these styles and will help you prepare for whatever you may find – once again with the perspective of long-time hiring managers and executives.
Simple, you pay us an hourly fee and we work on whatever you want us to work on. We have looked around and most of the resume and interview services out there charge you a fixed price for some “package.” Well, one size does not fit all and they do not set their prices for you to end up on the winning side of the equation. With our services you use us until you feel you no longer need us. You always know precisely what you are getting for your fee. We find the typical resume build from the ground up takes two to five hours. Resume cleanup typically takes one to three hours. Interview training is typically one to three hours. Hours spent will depend heavily on the starting point and things like length of business experience - more experience requires more lines to review and/or create. These are iterative and collaborative processes and we will be your partner every step of the way.
