The Principals of ProfessionalSourcing come “from industry”. For decades, each of us have worked where you work and done what you are doing. As we grew from individual contributors to managers to executives we were extensively (exhaustively) recruited by both functional and executive recruiters, and we were heavy users of recruiters at all levels of management. We know recruiting from both sides of the table, just like you. And we were repeatedly frustrated, just like you.

 

Although there are some standout recruiters out there, we all know that the recruiting industry is not broadly known for great service or, often, spectacular results - to wit, the increasingly short tenure and heavy turnover in the executive suite. It has many people whose only “business” experience is in recruiting and who think it is the hiring manager’s job to do the vetting and interviewing of candidates. It’s not their fault; the majority of recruiters simply do not have the real-world business experience and deep functional knowledge to help you out. You pay a lot of money and get very little value.

 

That stands in stark contrast to most professional service industries. For example, if you have a trusted lawyer, you call them needing help and they give you one or two options based on their expert knowledge of the law and business. They would not dump 40 legal briefs (or resumes) on you and say, “you figure it out.” They provide real value via a combination of technical expertise and practical business experience. The proof of value is your continued use of favorite service providers year-after-year.
